Brutal

I keep forgetting to listen to the message!

I just sent myself an email (I do this often) to remind myself when I get home to listen to it. I am still confused as to why my aunt left the message and not him, but whatever... I guess I am not surprised. I am thinking that it is probably because he can't actually talk on the phone, who knows.

Maybe I should call him to find out?

Brother Schaubs, while they live you have options. Upon their death you have none.

Schaubs, I say this out of love. Either listen to it, or don't, but don't drag yourself through the mud, either way. If you choose to listen to it or not, either decision is justified. I can appreciate your contrasting feelings on this. It wasn't your fault that your dad essentially turned his back on you, so if you decide to continue moving forward in your life without him, that's a justifiable position. Likewise, if you want to continue your efforts to reach out, then go for it. But either way, don't let this situation cause you to beat up on yourself. No one benefits under that scenario. Do or do not, either is fine. Just don't beat yourself up over it.
