Mookie Prop Bet Week 4, Dookie win #4

First off, congrats to one of my horses PirateLawyer for taking down the Mookie last night. That's three wins now for my team and ZERO for team IT. Instant Tragedy keeps telling me that it is a long season etc. etc. but I just keep watching my lead increase into a soon-to-be insurmaountable lead.

It was a tight battle of back and forth chip swapage when they were down to three. His nemisis was also final tabling the Dookie and I was able to take advantage of his over shoving when I turned the second nut flush. So now I am on the Dookie leaderboard, but I really want to get back to form where I am final tabling the Mookie instead.

Fuck that, I ain't no Waffles

There is only one Waffles. Only one man can get so tilted and blow through money like water and call themselves breakeven. I enjoy Waffles and his crap as much as the next person, but sometimes he just seems to make some really bad decisions that cost him in one way or another. It's like he doesn't think it through first, I'm still trying to figure it out.

Fuel had the audacity call me out and ask if I was the new Waffles. How cruel. How's that floor scraping going anyway? Fuel is just an overpriced labourer for all of you who didn't know. His body is probably screaming for a break as I type. Spend a buck to save a penny?


My intentions were not to gain sympathy or attention. I just expect more from my readers, maybe too much at times. I mean seriously, these days there isn't much being written at all out there. So why not expect some general coversation when I throw something up there that is discussion worthy. I think it was the content. People are just scared to state how they really feel for fear of being the subject of a future rant. Waffles is the expert, and there are a few others out there that love to turn comments on one blog into an entire post of their own. Obviously, we are all entitled to write whatever the hell we want on our little megabites of space. Is it just me or are bloggers just not feelin' it these days?

I think we need more to talk about. It doesn't have to be poker either. With the coming of the BBT4 there will be plenty of time for that.

I got the invite from IT to join this facebook group where it was something about getting 1 million people to join this waffles needs friends group. I laughed. It seems that in this day and age people will join just about anything if it is just a couple more clicks of the mouse, saved you don't have to divulge anything additionally personal. I laughed again.

Anyway if I am Waffles, then I guess I should end this post with my weakest attempt at a Waffles rant:

Fuck all you fucking commentors who really have nothing to say. You dirty bag licking sluts can all suck my unwashed taint until it is as worn out as Maniac57's bankroll. Try jumping off the fence once and a while and don't just sit there lurking around. I fucking hate lurkers. Chicks do too. I know you are one of them, I can see you lurking. You are all the same. The ones who don't have the balls to talk to a chick but instead slide in on the dance floor and try and brush up agianst them by accident. Your hope is that the dirty bitch you've got your eye on doesn't get fucking freaked out and actually turns around and gives you a chance, maybe even a quick dance... Except she already knows you are the dirty lurker with nothing to say, or should I say... just scared to say it.

There is no chance in hell I can keep up with Waffles and his reckless style of ranting and poker playing. I often admire the freedom he has to say and do whatever the heck he wants and he doesn't give two shits about the ramifications. As I've said before, I envy that freedom.

Maybe one day, I'll tell a story or two about the real personal stuff that goes on in Schaubs' head. Maybe.

Is it really Multi-accounting?

I remember reading a post that Hoy wrote a while back about these so called multi-account cheaters. In one sense it was interesting to read how he was "withholding" information from the community and not really outting any of the people who he knew had more than one account on any given site. I'm not sure of his reasoning, but he seemed to rationalize it and defend it. On the other hand I found it to be rather annoying that he didn't just let everyone know who these cheaters were. After all, it is assumed that we play with these people on a regular basis and they would clearly have an advantage. If you can't figure out how then that's your problem.

This one screen name has really been bugging me lately.

Does anyone know who "MeCrushBloggers" is?

I think calling them cheaters is wrong. However, I am not here to defend them. Just shed a different perspective on the whole subject. It's almost common knowledge that homeboy RecessRampage does not get rakeback. He admits that he hates money, and supports this by the fact the he has refused to place a couple of ads on his blog with little effort... and get paid. He must hate money...

I'm not going to go into the details of his predicament. I don't play 1/50th as much a he does and I can't begin to list the pros and cons of changing a screen name and starting over. All I know is if I was giving up two or three hundred a month in rakeback... I would do something about it.

I think the pokergump has said it best so far. If you are not reading this blog on a regular basis you need to start now. He's got tons of content on a variety of subjects and his writing style is very enjoyable:

Mookie Prop Bet Week 3

I promise to be posting more often soon. I've just been in no mood so far. Sure I have lots to say, lots to comment on, but I don't really feel the benefit as I once did. Personally, I am going through some stuff that really doesn't belong here on this blog. I try to be positive and not write about the tragedy I will soon face as time ticks on.

Here is the update. Lucko won again! He took out Mookie when he hit his open ender and Mookie called with two pair. Can't blame him, I just feel sorry that he didn't pull out the win. If it was anyone else I would have been pulling for the mookster, but since it was Lucko... we'll just tag that $210 he won onto the total and the leaderboard looks like this:

I played in the mookie again last night as I tried to watch Lost on the PVR at the same time. It was tough, but it forced me to be uber tight. Which was good enough to get me to 16th place or so. I pushed my 12 BB's overtop of a cutoff raise with QQ and couldn't win the race vs. AKo. Such is life.

There are more important things in life, like family, friends & spending time with them as much as possible. I need to do that more. I need to make that time count, and not think about work all the time. I come home, and the first thing I do is turn on the laptop (after kissing Lola duh) and check both my personal and work email (again... I was just there!). I also jump on bloglines and check out what I haven't read in the past 24hrs. It is a vicious cycle.

Now that I've installed a BES at work I feel like it is time to get connected. I've been avoiding a PDA for as long as possible but it won't last much longer. I fear that I will be even more distracted with the various apps that can be added like facebook, twitter, yahoo mail etc. I"m already getting annoyed.

Anyway, like I said, I have other stuff to say, I just don't know how. It's tough wanting to write about personal stuff (especially here, which often doesn't make sense to me), I know I will feel better after I do, I just don't know if this is the place. I've said this before and I am sure I will say it again... so that is that. I could resurrect my other space and start that up again. I'm just not sure.

So foggy in my brain. 3 weeks of snow and now almost 3 weeks of fog in our fair city. When will it ever lift?

When it does, maybe I will be more into it.

Mookie Prop Bet Week 2

I'm never too busy to at least update this little puppy of a prop bet.

So NumbBono and Bayne cashed a small amount. I did the ol' check in from time to time as I caught up on some PVR action with Lola. I did actually sign up for the Mookie, got dealt shit cards for the first hour (AKo and pocket 10's were my best hands... I think, blur). Made one questionable play with that AKo (lucko gave me props on the call so at least there is that, except he folded the best hand with me left to act)... and then donked out of the dookie in record time with TP2K against NumbBono's OBFV from the BB. Well played. I fell for it.

Anyway, I witnessed both a Bayne and a NumbBono suckout near the money bubble or shortly thereafter in the Mookie, which kinda sucked from a prop bet standpoint. I guess even my own team members were cheering for some Baynage... which is fine. It's not their bet is it? I gave them a hard time, but in reality, I am just wishing I could have drafted Bayne as well but he got snapped up in a hurry.

Ok so here is the update:

Here is the question:

We all are fully aware of the fact that Waffles has two accounts on Full Tilt... Right? I believe he created the second one in order to get in on some rakeback if I am not mistaken. Surely this is not one of the "multi-account cheaters" that Hoy is referring to is it? Small digression and a whole other post unto itself... maybe I just won't bother talking about the true details... (sound familiar?)

Anyway, my question is about Waffles playing under both names.

When IT drafted him for our bet he specifically said "Wawfuls" which would lead me to believe that he is selecting the player "Sirfwalgman" and not both accounts (Maniac75 is the other one).

Do you think it is fair that if Waffles wins money under Maniac57 and Sirfwalgman that both amounts should count towards the bet? Remember, it is total money won during 2009 Mookies.

Mookie Prop Bet Week 1

You know all about it by now. IT and I bet big big money ($50) and drafted 5 players each. The stakes are simple. The team with the most money earned in all 2009 Mookie's will win the bet.

So how did it go in week one you ask?

Schaubs team: $300 in winnings with Lucko and LJ taking first and second respectively.

IT's team: $0

Here are my goals from 2008:

1. Play in at least one event of the Johnny Chan Poker Classic at the Rock in May. FAIL.
2. Win at least one blogger event. FAIL. (I only count the majors - MATH, Skillz, Mookie, Riverchasers, The invisible Big Game) - Ok, I won the Dookie once or twice... same with the Donkament... not good enough!
3. Play in the BCPC in November. PASS. Win it in a heads up battle against 55. FAIL.
4. Improve my cash game FAIL., and learn more PASS., read more PASS. and become more comfortable at live $2/$5 NL at my local casinos. FAIL.
5. Start playing 6 max NL online. PASS. (didn't last though)

Slow playing monster hands

The art of the slow play is a learned skill just like all the others. The goal is to maximize the number of chips you can extract when you have the nuts. This usually occurs once you see the flop and know to a very large degree of certainty that you will win the hand at showdown. When I flop a monster hand, I want to consider a few things first:

1. How many chips are available for extraction?
2. Where are you in the tournament / what is the blind level in relation to chip stacks?
3. What is your image preflop, did you raise or did you call a raise?
4. How many callers?
5. How active have you been recently?
6. What is my position on the preflop caller(s)?

Here's a hand where I flopped the nuts and I was the preflop raiser. I had been very aggressive up to this point and hit a good hand earlier on (flopping top set with Jacks) and essentially doubled up during the first level. If you were not the preflop raiser, then a different line might be required to maximize value.
